Diabetes and your feet

Diabetes is an ever increasing condition caused by high blood sugar levels.

These high blood glucose levels can over a period of time cause damage to both the nerve and circulatory systems. Symptoms that may be felt include; pins and needles sensation, numbness, pain, change in the shape of the feet, loss of sense of positioning of your feet and legs. Circulatory changes can include; cramp in the calves, pain walking short distances, loss of hair on the feet and legs, thickened toenails, cold, pale feet, pain, and wounds or sore that may have delayed healing.

If you present with any of these symptoms, contact Alex at Purbeck Podiatry for a full diabetic foot assessment advice and a full report to your GP. Alex has extensive experience with treating diabetic patients with varying degrees of foot complications.
